Nanbu Tekki– Nanbu Tekki Ironware Japanese Rust Resistant Cooking Tea Pots –

Nanbu Tekki Ironware made in Japan

Nanbu Tekki is a metalwork made in Iwate Prefecture. It is a traditional craft that originated in the Edo period (1603-1867), and was named “Nanbu Tekki” (Southern Ironware) because it was made in the Nanbu domain.
Nambu ironware is characterized by its resistance to rust and longevity, even heat transmission, and excellent heat retention properties. The weight and stability of ironware, coupled with its unique rough texture, make it attractive for its rustic beauty.

Various patterns are applied by craftsmen to tetsubin (iron kettles), which are representative of Nambu tetsuki ware. The convex and concave arare pattern on the surface is used on Nambu tetsubin in order to increase the surface area of the tetsubin. Currently, colorful as well as black tetsubin are popular.

Nambu ironware pots and pans are also an indispensable item for Japanese cooking. They are characterized by their high heat retention and low heat irregularity. They enable you to prepare delicious dishes that are heated to the core in a short time.

Yamadaya can provide tetsubin and pots in various shapes and sizes upon request. Please feel free to contact us.
